Chiropractors

Chiropractic care is a non-invasive, hands-on approach to diagnosing and treating conditions of the muscles, joints, and nervous system with a special focus on the spine. At our Ontario clinics, our Chiropractors develop personalized treatment plans that address the root cause of your pain, not just the symptoms.

Chiropractic treatment can help with a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Acute and chronic back and neck pain
  • Migraine headaches
  • Other types of pain and strain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Sciatica
  • Whiplash
  • Sports injuries

and more!

How Chiropractic Care Supports Your Health

Chiropractic Care focuses on the spine, muscles, joints, and nervous system to address the root causes of pain and restricted movement. By restoring proper alignment and movement chiropractic adjustments and targeted therapies, Chiropractic treatments can help relieve back and neck pain, improve mobility, reduce headaches, and support overall function so you can move and feel better every day.

What to Expect at Your Chiropractic Appointment

New to chiropractic care? You're in good hands at our Ontario locations.

Your first visit with one of our Ontario Chiropractors is an assessment that lasts about 45 minutes. During this appointment, a Chiropractor will review your health history, discuss your symptoms — whether you're coming in for back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, whiplash, or a sports injury — and complete an evaluation to identify potential issues with your spine, muscles, joints, or nervous system. This may include posture and movement tests, as well as a hands-on assessment of how your spine moves in relation to the rest of your body. Based on these findings, your Ontario Chiropractor will explain the diagnosis and recommend a personalized treatment plan.

To help you feel prepared, we’ve created a short video where Dr. Laura Baxter walks you through what to expect at your first chiropractic appointment.

For your comfort, we recommend wearing loose or flexible clothing to your visits.

Follow-up treatments are scheduled for 15 or 30 minutes* , depending on your treatment plan and therapeutic needs.

Chiropractic Care FAQ

You are always in control of your care — you can stop at any time. That said, your Chiropractor will recommend a clinical treatment plan based on your goals, your condition, and the best available research.

Chiropractic Care is typically organized into three blocks:

  • Block 1 (Active Care): Focused on reducing your symptoms. Research shows that 12 visits over a short period of time can create the neurological change needed for long-term results.
  • Block 2 (Corrective Care): Once improvement is noted, your Chiropractor will conduct a progress assessment and outline the next phase of care, adjusting frequency and duration based on how you're responding.
  • Block 3 (Maintenance Care): Many patients choose to continue with periodic visits at a frequency that works for their lifestyle and wellness goals.

Most extended health benefit plans do include Chiropractic coverage. Check your policy for your annual allowance and whether a referral is required.

We offer direct billing to most major insurance providers, so you won't need to pay out of pocket and wait for reimbursement. Contact your nearest Ontario clinic to confirm whether your provider is on our direct billing list.

Chiropractors in Canada are Doctors of Chiropractic, completing a minimum of 7–8 years of post-secondary education before they can practice. This includes an undergraduate degree at a recognized university, followed by a 3–5 year chiropractic program at an accredited college.

To practice in Ontario, Chiropractors must also be registered with the College of Chiropractors of Ontario and meet ongoing continuing education requirements. When you see a Chiropractor at our Ontario clinics, you're in the hands of a fully licensed, professionally trained healthcare provider.

Massage Therapy is a full body treatment that helps ease the pain related to muscle tension, injury recovery, stress relief or the need for relaxation. Common Massage treatments include Swedish, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone, Prenatal, Sport and Trigger Point.

Acupuncture involves the placement of thin needles that are hand-inserted into specific acupoints to access your body's meridians to help relieve pain and improve your overall well-being.

Chiropractic Care most often uses hands-on spinal manipulation and other alternative treatments. Proper alignment of the body's musculoskeletal structure, particularly the spine, will enable the body to heal itself without surgery or medication.

Reflexology involves applying pressure to specific reflex zones in the feet or hands to help energize the body, relieve tension and promote relaxation.

Follow-up Chiropractic appointments are typically 15 minutes. The time booked is the maximum allotted — your actual treatment may be shorter depending on your specific needs and where you are in your treatment plan. Some visits may simply require a quick adjustment, while others may use the full time to address a more complex condition.

Your first visit will be longer, as it includes a full health history intake, postural assessment, and a consultation with your Chiropractor before any treatment begins.

Most patients find Chiropractic adjustments to be comfortable and relieving. During an adjustment, your Chiropractor applies a precise, controlled force to a specific joint — most commonly in the spine. You may hear a popping or cracking sound, which is simply the release of gas from the joint and is completely normal.

Some patients feel immediate relief, while others may notice mild soreness for a day or two after their first few visits — similar to how muscles feel after a workout. This is a normal response as your body adapts to treatment and typically resolves quickly.

No, you can book a Chiropractic appointment directly without a referral from a doctor. Chiropractors are primary contact healthcare providers, which means you can come to us first.

If your extended health insurance requires a referral for reimbursement purposes, check with your provider before your appointment. But to book an appointment at one of our Ontario clinics, no referral is needed.
