Yabing Wang,

R. Ac

Welcome Yabing, Benjamin, Wang TCM to Massage Addict Niagara Falls. Benjamin has had eight years of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) training in university, 5 years of Medicine of Bachelor and 3 years of Medicine of Master (Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, one of the best TCM University worldwide). He spent another 6 years studying for his PhD of molecular genetics in Chinese Academic of Sciences (CAS) which is the top academic institute of China.

After graduation, Ben attended a UN program in Cape Town for gene-environment interactions mechanism for esophageal cancers research. He also started his acupuncture practice. Ben went to the University of Alberta for pharmacogenomics research, in the psychiatry department. In 2018, after finishing 2200 hours of the massage therapist program, Ben registered as an RMT and R.Ac after he passed the Pan-Canada acupuncture exam. He had practiced in the Acupuncture Holistic Clinic (Edmonton) for 3 years until September 2021, when his family moved to St Catharines, for the better weather and more outdoor activities.

In his words, "Modern medicine has a long history of using new technologies and tools. However, based on the analysis methodology, it isolates and divides into pieces and easily forget that we humans, after 3 million years of nature's evolution, harboring the body's healing power. But, every year, so much of the population suffered from pain issues and the relevant drugs abuse, chronic metabolism disorders, T2DM, heart diseases, depressions, anxiety, IBS, and insomnia. Where is our healing power? Most obvious, the way we think about diseases, from definition by human, has problems. We named them based on locations: frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, chapel tunnel syndromes, migraine, headache, TMJ, lower back pain, you name it. Or based on tissues and inflammation features: fibro-myalgia, tendinitis, and osteoporosis. We used different generations of pain-killers, blockers, trying to "treat", if it does not work, we double the dosage, we use different neurotransmitters combinations, cortisone shot, or surgery, most of which is to block the body reactions. Sometimes it works, but more often, it induces serious consequences or even worse. How far are we going to go in such a direction and keep ignoring that, all of the issues above, could just be physical structure not being in its own appropriated positions or functions? We like defining inflammation this, inflammation that, but inflammatory itself is just a self protection mechanism, trying to tell you something is wrong. It is the second consequence, the victims, not the reason of disorders. The good treatment should cooperate with the body to recover its original function structure".

For Ben, the acupuncture needle is an amazing tool because it is so thin that it does not mess up body tissue. It concentrates better than hand or fingers, and is effective to give the body a signal, for reorganizing and rehabilitation to its functions. The same with TCM, when you see a dry leaf on a tree, the factors like the nutritional soil, perfect amount of sunlight and water, are as vital as pest killer. Given the right conditions at the right time, lives will bloom by its own power from genetics, from 3 million years of evolution.

More than decades of science research and clinic practice make me such a person: knowledgeable and love sharing, logic and evidence based strategy. He also relies much often on the palpation. Ben's philosophy is, compassion is the strongest motivation for being a better therapist. When not on duty, you could see Ben on trails, jogging with his dog, or playing harmonica blues on the lakeside.
