This presentation is designed to prepare Massage Therapy students for the realities of professional practice after graduation and registration. We explore the diverse career paths available to Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs), including specific clinic settings, renting space, multidisciplinary environments, mobile services, home based practice and much more.

We also cover the critical differences between being an employee and working as an independent contractor, including the financial, legal, and operational implications of each path. Students gain an understanding of insurance requirements, what to look for in employment or service contracts, and the importance of clarity in terms such as non-compete clauses, fee splits, and hidden fees.

To round out the session, we provide an overview of tax responsibilities, including HST collection and remittance, business deductions, and basic bookkeeping tips to help students feel more confident as they prepare to launch their careers.
